Student life
Housing, everyday costs, working while you study, and what the first month in Türkiye actually looks like.
What to expect
Housing. State dormitories run about $60 to $150 per month. A shared private flat in Istanbul runs $200 to $350 per person.
Food. Campus canteens serve a full meal for about $1.50. A monthly grocery budget of $130 is normal.
Getting around. A student transport card costs about $8 per month in most cities and covers metro, tram and bus.
Health. Health insurance is mandatory and costs about $60 per year. University clinics are free to students.
Working. Bachelor students may work part time after their first year. Master and PhD students may work from the start.
Community. Every campus has country societies. We introduce you to students from your country before you fly.
